Help and support over the summer holidays /help-and-support-over-the-summer-holidays/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:44:27 +0000 /?p=8686

We hope that all of our students have an enjoyable summer break, but understand that this period can be challenging for some. If students are worried or upset about anything over the holiday period then we recommend the following three steps:

  1. Contact ‘’, an excellent online mental health support platform
  2. ContactÌýÌýwho can provide confidential and professional support
  3. You can also email enquiries@didsburyhighschool.org.uk. Staff will have limited access to their email until near the start of term, so if a student needs help urgently, please use one of the first two options above.

The Christmas spirit is alive and well at âÓ¶¹appÏÂÔØ, with everyone pulling together to support local charities.

We have been collecting items for Southway Food Bank and Mission Christmas and have been overwhelmed by the number of donations that have been made by staff, students and parents and carers.

We have received some fantastic items for Mission Christmas, which distributes toys to children who are facing the prospect of waking up on Christmas morning without any presents, and have been extremely grateful to receive so many food parcels that will directly benefit local people.

We’d like to thank everyone who has donated for their generosity, which is going to make a huge difference to local families this Christmas.

We’d also like to thank the entire school community for their support of the school this year, which has been like no other. We are particularly proud of our students who have adapted so well and have approached their work with a fantastic attitude and weÌýlook forward to returning to some sense of normality in 2021.

âÓ¶¹appÏÂÔØ students had the opportunity to host award-winning author, Anna Hoghton, whose debute children’s novel The Mask of Aribella was released in January.

The book has since been shortlisted for the Sakura Medal, a reading programme that brings students together to vote for their favourite book.

The Mask of Aribella is an action and fantasy book about a girl who discovers she has a secret power.

The event saw Anna talking to students virtually about the setting of the book and reading short extracts, followed by a Q&A with the students. Students were able to purchase a personally signed copy of The Mask of Aribella.

After the event a cross-Trust competition was launched encouraging students to design their own mask inspired by the book. The competition deadline is Friday 4 December.
